WHR (Porthmadog) Opening To Treath Mawr

23rd March 2007 to 25th March 2007

Thanks to Barney being a member of the WHR Ltd, we went over to the WHR (Porthmadog) for their opening to Traeth Mawr - doubling the length of their operating railway and the finally breaking away Pen-y-mount after more than 25 years waiting!

We travelled on the second "public" train to Traeth Mawr, double headed by resident "Gelert" and visting FR loco "Prince".

The day ran very smoothly indeed and was a fantastic display of co-operation between the FR and the WHR Ltd - many said it could or wouldn't happen but today proved them wrong.

The lineside shots at Traeth Mawr were taken two days later on the last day of the opening weekend - hense the difference in the weather!
